Doula
is someone who understands the physiology of birth and provides emotional and informational support, based on scientific evidence - whenever possible - to others during pregnancy, birth, postpartum, or in other situations such as breastfeeding, pre-conception or gestational loss.
The doula accompanies the pregnant person or couple during pregnancy through emotional support, clarifying doubts, seeking information, helping to plan and demystify labor and the postpartum period. You can also be present during labor, alongside the pregnant person, creating a sphere of protection and trust, which facilitates the progression of labor, or proposing comfort measures. The doula also supports the accompanying person and shows how they can be an integral part of that moment.

Pregnancy doula
During pregnancy, my role as a doula is informative, but also of emotional support.
Informative support allows you to live your pregnancy in a lighter and more conscious way, as you recognize what is happening to you and your child, you know your physiology and common procedures, and thus prepare yourself for the birth and postpartum in a calmer and more informed way, reducing stress and anxiety.
At the same time, emotional support makes you feel safe, cared for and supported. Here you will have a safe haven to welcome you, listen to your fears and anxieties, help you relax myths and beliefs, and celebrate your victories with you.

Sessions can be online or in-person in Greater Lisbon.

The topics to be discussed in doula sessions are always suitable for you, depending on your needs, interests and also what we feel is essential to talk about at the moment.

Doula no parto
During labor and birth, my role is to ensure that the mother's needs are met, supporting her physically and emotionally throughout labor.
Part work monitoring involves the doula being on call between 38 weeks and 42 weeks of the pregnant person's gestation. During this time I will be available to be contacted at any time of the day or night, helping you to discern the first signs of labor and coming to you when labor has started and only leaving you two hours postpartum.
If the doula's presence is not possible during the hospital birth, I will be with you until you are admitted to the hospital, and then I will be contactable for the person accompanying you, and for you in the first hours postpartum.
This follow-up requires you to have completed some support and information sessions for childbirth with me previously.
I will only be able to accept birth accompaniments for pregnancies with an expected delivery date from the end of September 2024.
